Event - Dicken's Faire 2011

It has been a while since the 2011 and 2012 Dicken's Fairs so I don't really remember all of what was different or specific about those verses the others, but I remember a few things.  This, this will mostly be pictures and whatnot of myself and friends costumes.  I hope you do not mind.

((I'm breaking this up into three entries just for the shear fact that they are so picture heavy))

2011

This was the year I went as one of my LARP characters, Anne.  My friends dressed as a Gentlemen and one of American McGee's Alice Characters from Alice: Madness Returns.

- For More pictures of both Alice and Anne, look forward to future posts. ((link in here once those pages become live))

Lolita Closet - Alice and the Pirate

The following are the AatP pieces that I own in my collection.

I tend to feel myself more on the side of fluffy Sweet Lolita but I really like the darker qualities of Alice and the Pirates.  A lot of them make perfect additions to any cute Steampunk outfit and I've worn a few of them to those types of events.

Gathered Chiffon JSK

This was the first AatP dress that I bought.  I got it at the opening of the BtSSB store in San Fransisco.  As I stood in line various people told me how it was their dream dress but I held onto it tightly.  I had fallen in love with it too and love it just as much to this day.  It is the fanciest lolita dress that I own and I won't part with it.

a/p Circus Print JSK
I loved the print on this one.  The little monkeys and the elephants and Alice balancing on a ball.  It's super fancy and I love to wear it.
On many occasions I have worn this dress on special occasions to steampunk events.
The only downside to this dress is that when I first was wearing it my arm would hurt like hell.  I wondered why and then I found out what was wrong.  The top is a bodice with plastic boning and one of the bones was protruding it's little super sharp tip out of one of the seams.  It was not fun...  I cut then filed down the bone so it was not so sharp-- cut myself on it a few times before I actually found it but happily did not get any blood on my dress.

AatP - Original Tartan Check Vest and Half-Pants
I bought these two matching pieces when they were on sale at the SF store.  I tried them on when they first came out and was giddy it was ridiculous.   I glowed, but at that time I got a different dress.  I didn't have any "boy style" items and wanted to stick with dresses.  I was glad that I did get the dress that time because it let me get it on sale.

Event - SJ Zombie Crawl 2011

This blog post is about the San Jose Zombie Crawl that took place in 2011.  Tomorrow's post will be about the Crawl from 2012.

The group from the end of the Crawl.

Do the creep
I've been going to the local Zombie Crawl since 2010 and love hanging with my friends and hanging in bars as a zombie.  Its always nice to see other people dressing up and participating in the event with feverish excitement.

It was this years crawl that I made and dressed up as Hysteria Alice from American McGee's Alice.  I thought it would be fitting considering it was a newly released game that year and I had planed on making all the outfits from the game because they were gosh darn gorgeous.
So keep them arms T-Rex'in

The event consists of a Crawl along a set trail around Downtown San Jose.  There are various businesses along the way that have discounts for Zombies and there are some that don't want them inside, for fear they may frighten their normal customers.
There is a movie that plays every year as well.  That year's movie was Fido. I never stay for the movie because I'd need to sit in my chair for the whole event in order to get an ok seat.
There is also a fashion show that showcases both clothing and accessories that are zombie friendly and fit the ascetic.

As always the hyincs insued and the fun was had.  We started at O'Flahertys and ended at the same place.  This has become a theme every year and I love started with a Guinness and ending with one.

I had a half-way horrid morning the next day but it wasn't as bad as the year before that--  That being said, It was super fun and I suggest to many people that they should attend the event.

Lolita Update - BtSSB's Disney Print

So I know that this has probably been addressed quite a few times and a bit out of date but I wanted to say my little part about it too.

Baby The Stars Shine Bright has put out a collaboration with Disney to do an Alice in Wonderland print with Disney's official images as well as the offical Carol images so widely known from the illustrated books.

I find the fact that Disney is allowing this, amazing and I love them all the more for it.  Girls who dress as Alice and are inspired by the movie when they were young should be able to wear the lovely official prints that come out of it. I for one was seriously considering forking out the cash to pre-order one.  However it was later stated that they did not have licenses to sell in the United States but only in Japan.  Stupid Disney and their tight fisted empire.

The collaboration items are licensed in Japan, and are not for international sale. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

This quote just made me sad when I read it, but it did not surprise me.  I thought it was too good to be true.

Now onto the PhotoPorn!
